Project Overview
Our clients wanted a kitchen that made a statement, but their existing layout just wasn't cutting it. We brought their vision to life by optimizing the workflow and introducing breathtaking, high-end natural stone surfaces. By pairing smart design with luxurious materials, we created a stunning, highly functional space that feels both elegant and effortless.
The Transformation
How It Looked Before
Issues With The Old Layout
- The original island was rounded, lacking adequate storage and seating area
- Clients strongly disliked the outdated Brazilian cherry and reddish cabinets
- Inadequate meal prep space on the island due to the integrated stovetop
- The corner walk-in pantry was extremely cramped with barely enough space to turn around
Our Solutions
- Built a custom island with generous storage on both ends and under the countertop overhang
- Relocated the stovetop to the exterior wall with a new hood vent, freeing up the island
- Moved the dishwasher to the left side of the sink to improve usability and countertop space
- Constructed an exterior addition lining up with the dining room, adding 40 sq ft of space
- Transformed the pantry with custom shelving, a refrigerator, and butcher block countertops
Materials Used
- Two-tone kitchen cabinet package (Alabaster white uppers, brown wood-tone bases)
- High-end natural stone countertops for the main kitchen
- Butcher block countertops for the walk-in pantry
- Custom island cabinetry and bespoke pantry shelving
Project Timeline
1. Client Consultation
We first sat down with the clients to hear their concerns. They expressed frustration with the rounded, storage-poor island, the outdated reddish cabinets, and the cramped walk-in pantry that offered no room to move.
2. Design & Planning
Our team developed a bold plan to relocate the stovetop, freeing up the island for meal prep. We also designed a 40-square-foot exterior addition to dramatically expand their pantry space.
3. Demolition & Exterior Addition
We began by removing the old Brazilian cherry cabinets and rounded island. Next, we constructed the new exterior addition, seamlessly lining it up with the dining room wall.
4. Structural & Systems Update
We updated the plumbing and electrical systems to relocate the dishwasher and stovetop, and we installed a new exterior hood vent for proper ventilation.
5. Cabinetry & Countertops
We installed the stunning two-tone cabinet package featuring Alabaster white uppers and brown wood-tone bases, finished with beautiful, high-end natural stone countertops.
6. Pantry & Finishing Touches
We completed the newly expanded walk-in pantry, installing custom shelving, a dedicated refrigerator, and butcher block countertops to finalize this incredible optimization.
